The common land of Wick Moor is now the site of Hinckley Nuclear Power Station. In the middle of the area is a barrow that is named Pixies Mound, where a man discovered what he believed to be a toy spade, although it was broken. He kindly repaired it and returned it to the barrow. Sometime later, he passed the barrow and saw that the spade had gone, but in its place was a plate of cakes. He ate them and since that time enjoyed good fortune. Locals advised the contractors of the power station of this, and warned them that the mound should remain untouched; otherwise it would not work properly. They headed this advice, and built the station around the mound, having surrounded it with barbed wire.
